Little Introduction note : Our trip took started on August 24th and lasted for almost 4 weeks. Here are some of the pictures we took. As it makes a lot already, I added some links in the short texts to even more pictures... You can also find them all under this link.
Petite note d'introduction : Notre voyage a débuté le 24 Août et a duré pratiquement 4 semaines. On a pris un tas de photos et comme on va pas tout mettre ici, j'ai rajouter des liens dans le texte vers encore plus de photos. Alternativement, elle sont aussi toutes sur cette page.
Enfin, vous l'aurez deviné, les textes en français sont en italiques.
On est arrivé à Paris-Charles de Gaulle de bon matin. Pas le meilleur endroit pour terminer un vozage de 11'000 kilomètres mais maintenant on a vu pire. Grâce aux supers horaires de la SNCF, 4 heures d'attente à la gare et une fois à Aix, une petite heure de voiture. Un petit vent de fraicheur nous attendait le lendemain matin, les vacances commencait pas si mal du tout :)
Petit Aperçu des bêbêtes vivant dans les parages : Kenzo, le vieux chien de garde plus très en forme ; des escargots par milliers et une énorme toile d'araignée. Enfin, on a pu trouvé toute une variété d'insectes en ramassant des mûres dans le lit de la rivière.

Après quelques jours supplémentaires avec mes parents, retour à la case départ : Paris, et pour 3 jours. On aime bien Paris, ville hétéroclyte où l'on peut croiser des énergumènes rares, des gratte-ciels qui n'ont rien à faire là, des vélos sortis tout droit d'un film de science-fiction et enfin, de la bonne bouffe bien de chez nous ;) Enfin, c'était les journées européennes du patrimoine, nous avons visiter le Panthéon et ses impressionnantes colonnes avec Chu Quy.
Dernière soirée en France et à Paris, dernières occasions de prendre des photos. Je dois avouer que ce voyage a imprimer dans ma mémoire un sentiment différent à propos de Paris. Qui sait, un jour je vais peut être même l'apprécier?
Another massive book (30.9 x 42.5 cm and a mere 2.1 kilos!), from famed Holloywood Photographer Mario Testino, and foreworded by Nicole Kidman, which brings you litterally in the life of celebrities. The list of those portrayed here would be long but let’s only mention, Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz, Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt, George Clooney.
A comment on the book’s Amazon.com page states “looks more like a last minute pull out from all of his vanity fair and vogue spread from previous few years”. This is not completely untrue, but the author probably haven’t read the interview at the beginning of the book. This book is telling you how a photographer gets confidence from world stars, at a point where intimacy becomes key : the photographer knows he will make them look good. And vice-versa. Further, this pictures featured here are more like a collection of the photographer’s favorites. The title is so because the book is supposed to ‘let you in’ where you cannot get (celebrities’ parties and high profile social gatherings). This is untrue as well.
So try it at home : pick-up someone ready to go intimate with you hidden behind a camera… snap, snap, snap… review…. and there you got it: simple pictures are all but simple to take. Get the book, there is a lot more to learn in there than you – and many others – first thought.
What more you need to know:
- Mario Testino was (and still is regularly) also commissioned by royal families in Europe (UK, Denmark, Jordan, etc.)
- Mario Testino is not Italian. He was born in Peru on the 30th October 1954
- “Let Me In!” is his 7th book. The most famous remains “Portraits” (with this picture one of my all-time favorite)
- Selling 1 print of Diana’s portrait allowed the construction of a children clinic in Peru
